#Repost @australianfoodandwine・・・Classic aged Barossa tonight. One of my favourites, 2010 St Hallett Blackwell Shiraz.Big and bold Barossa Shiraz, 11 years on. Well developed and good drinking now. American oak still strong, fruit falling away to dried black fruit spectrum. It’s now all about the spicy oak and savouriness. Olive tapenade, chocolate, liquorice. Tannin tasty and chalky, a little more fruit would see it through another 5 years. So glad to crack it now. Made me think a magnum of this might be epic in the next few years.Drinking nicely now, probably deserved a fattier steak but no complaints from the 11 year old!..........#foodandwine #food #wine #foodie #foodporn #f #winelover #grams #foodphotography #feedfeed #winetasting #instafood #huffposttaste #eeeeeats #foodstagram #winetime #vino #foodblogger #buzzfeast #forkyeah #winelovers #foodlover #instawine #winestagram #eater #tastingtable #redwine ... #Repost @australianfoodandwine・・・Pizza and merlot, doesn’t quite roll off the tongue! Neither does Cab, Merlot and tassie. But Domaine A seem to make it work. Not a huge fan of merlot, better as a mixer for blending for me.This is the 2013 Domaine A Merlot from Southern Tassie. Big fan of Domaine A, particularly like that they only bottle age the wines before release. So this is the recent vintage despite the 8 years. Still a young wine for me, high tannin which give this wine some power.Very savoury wine which i think is the house style. Certainly does make Merlot more interesting for me, bay leaf, sage, liquorice, bit of that forest floor you get from tassie Pinot. Spicy oak still dominant needs a few years to settle down still. #Repost @thistledownwines・・・AVAILABLE NOW 🦊The Cunning Plan Shiraz 2020🦊, McLaren Vale2019 vintage of this succulent, lively McLaren Vale Shiraz was a TOP 100 🏆 Halliday Wine.McLaren Vale is one of the most geologically diverse regions on earth. It has long been the home to some of Australia’s finest expressions of Shiraz. Our fruit comes from the Moray Park vineyard in the McLaren Flat sub-region. Low yielding and ultra-intense, we handle the fruit gently to capture the delicious berry fruit character, overlaid with subtle wood-spice.2020 vintage conditions were perfect in many ways with small yields resulting in concentration and quality.Winemaking is simple with The Cunning Plan. Take perfectly balanced fruit, pick, gently crush to preserve whole berries and allow to soak for 4 days prior to a wildfermentation. Pressed off to 300 litre French hogsheads, of which 15% are new, where the wine ages for 10 months prior to bottling unfined and unfiltered.Click to buy this anticipated release at link in bio. ... Know very little about this wine apart from it being from Rhine Castle Cellars Sydney, called Old Dolchetto and from 1939. Picked up at auction a little while ago. Google seems to suggest Rhine Castle was an old wine store in Sydney owned by John Walker (thankfully his name is on the bottle!) and a joint venture with McWilliams. If anyone knows anything about the origin of this please message me! Cork was in great shape for the age which was a surprise given the wax wasn’t. Surprisingly not syrupy given similar aged ports I’ve tried. Hard to give many tasting notes as had been through a few bottles with friends to get to it. #Repost @lenckdrank・・・Tomfoolery started from small beginnings when Winemaker and Owner, Ben Chipman purchased half a Tonne of Shiraz fruit and made his first wine. He met his wife Sarah in 2006 while they were both working at Rockford and together they purchased their home with vineyard in the Barossa in 2011, started working their business full time and built a winery in 2014. 🍷2019 @tomfoolerywines Son of a Gun #CabernetShiraz🍷This classic Australian blend of combining Cabernet and Shiraz shows fruits of dark plums with juicy black berries in the background as well. There are elements of coffee with spiced toasty oak, black pepper and dried herbs. The finish is firm with grainy tannins that provide a strong backbone to this full bodied #verygoodwine 🍷#barossavalley #southaustralia🍷The Cabernet Shiraz blend was created back in the late 1800s when it was sold as "Claret". Both varieties were in abundance, especially in the warmer inland regions of South Australia (like the Barossa) and due to the heat Cabernet struggled to reach any great heights in quality, that winemaker were hoping for. Cabernet was often described as having a whole in the middle (ie: good fruit up front and good finish, but dull in between). Shiraz however had a full flavoured mid palate and because winemakers had free reign to experiment without Appellation restrictions like their European counterparts, the classic Australian Cabernet Shiraz was born 🍷Available to purchase at the Budburst Wine Collective for $24.95 ... #Repost @winelifeforme・・・Last night was all about Rosé so I cracked open a bottle of Vino Intrepido 'The Sharpest Thorn' 2019 Rosé @vinointrepidoWinemaker James Scarcebrook's focus on Italian grape varieties came from his time working in the industry, travelling the wine world and constantly learning about wine.James bought one tonne of grapes back in 2016 to test some theories he had developed about Italian grape varieties in Australia.Since then he has made 18 wines and worked with 8 different grape varieties. The fruit for his wines are sourced from various wine regions with suitable growing conditions for the particular variety. With a focus now on Victorian wine regions. This Rosé is made with Sangiovese grapes grown in Heathcote, the fruit picked early to retain acidity and freshness.Maceration was approx 4.5 hours - literally the time it took James to drive the fruit from the vineyard to the winery, return the rental van and get back. After pressing, the wine was fermented in two mature oak barrels and the rest in stainless steel, then blended and bottled 5 months later.A beautiful pale pink /orange colour.Strawberry and cherry with some earthiness, herbs and savoury characters.
